Wined About Bike Tours

Take a cycle around Mangawhai Village and Heads to enjoy the local wineries, orchards, olive groves, chocolate factory, art and craft venues and other boutique outlets in Magical Mangawhai. The area also has some of the most spectacular vistas and scenery including a surf beach and quiet estuary with the sand dunes as a back drop.

The tours are self guided and our maps will guide you as you cycle at your own pace, spending as much or as little time as you like at the various stops. Along the way you will find cafes and restaurants and so many beautiful vistas to simply relax, breathe and enjoy the view.

You can even chose where to start and finish and make the day your own! We will pick you up from any Mangawhai address and take you to your chosen start point. At the end of your ride we will pick you up and return you to your Mangawhai address, or perhaps the beach for a cool swim!

We are on hand to assist in case the bike needs a tweak or replacing, or if you get too tired.

We will also happily pick up wine, chocolate, or any other items you have purchased during your ride, and have those ready for you at your pick up point. Just let us know where your purchases are and we will do the rest.

Our well maintained bicycles are hired with helmets, locks, bags and carriers. To ensure a trouble free day we provide vehicle full support for any punctures or breakdowns.

Tour Option 1: Art & Chocolate – Explore the variety of art and craft venues of Mangawhai. Start or end your ride at Bennet's chocolate factory and also enjoy real Italian ice cream at the Gelateria! Art, chocolate and ice cream - what more is there?

Tour Option 2: Wineries and Olives – Cycle along country roads to the vineyards and wineries, walk among the vines and taste the wonderful wines of this most outstanding wine producing area. Continue your ride to the wonderful Echo Valley Olive Grove, explore the orchards and try the oils.

Tour Option 3: Freestyle Ride – Take your time to cycle aroung Mangawhai Village, Heads and surrounding countryside guided by our specially prepared map. Visit the beaches and sites of Mangawhai that interest you.

Terms and Conditions of Rental Agreement »

Our Responsibility

1. We agree to provide you with a serviceable bike, helmet, carrier, bike lock, pump and back pack (the Equipment).

2. We will provide a route map of the area with the places of interest marked.

3. We provide our contact numbers to provide roadside assistance for repairs and replacements throughout your ride.

4. We will deliver the Equipment to the start point agreed with you.

5. At the start point we will provide instruction on using the Equipment and ensure all are in working order.

6. From your telephone call, or confirmed text message, we will pick any purchases you have made during your tour and either have those ready at your agreed pick up point, or deliver those to your Mangawhai holiday address, as agreed.

7. We will pick you up at the end point agreed with you at the agreed time. You can change these by telephoning us and we will respond as soon as practical.

Your Responsibility

8. You accept responsibility for the care and safe keeping of all the Equipment for the duration of this agreement. If any of the Equipment is lost or damaged, (including without limitation, loss or damage arising from fire, accident, theft, collision, misuse or forfeiture), you agree to compensate Wined About Bike Tours Ltd for the full cost of repairing such damage or replacing the Equipment, regardless of the cause of such loss or damage, including the negligence or otherwise of any other person, and including the costs of enforcing this release.

9. You accept cycling and associated activities have inherent risks, and can be dangerous. These risks include (but are not limited to): illness, navigational difficulties, riding conditions, poor weather, and collisions. You agree to accept all risks, and will not hold Wined About Bike Tours Ltd responsible, or make any claim against them (including claims arising from negligence) for any direct or indirect injury or damage to yourself, or your property, in the course of using the Equipment.

10. You agree that any claim in respect of any damage and/or injury to other persons and/or property arising from your use of the Equipment is your responsibility and not the responsibility of Wined About Bike Tours Ltd and hereby indemnify Wined About Bike Tours Ltd against any loss, damage or claim whatsoever arising against them as a result of your use of the Equipment.

11. You agree to use the Equipment in a lawful, safe and proper manner at all times and accept that Wined About Bike Tours Ltd is not responsible for damage, expense, inconvenience or injury related to events outside its control.

12. New Zealand law requires the use of bicycle helmets and you agree to wear a bicycle helmet when riding the bicycle.

13. You agree to abide the rules of the Highway Code.

14. You must remain within the area of the route map provided while using the Services and Equipment of Wined About Bike Tours Ltd.

15. The Equipment is for use on the roads marked on the maps and is not for use on BMX trails, cross country or other off road riding.

Insurance

Wined About Bike Tours Ltd has public liability insurance. This is in addition to ACC funded medical cost for eligible people. All those ineligible for ACC and overseas clients are recommended to have medical insurance that covers this kind of holiday activity.

Deposit

A deposit of $100 is required. This will be returned when all of the Equipment is safely returned without breakage. Otherwise it will be retained as a part payment for repairs or replacement (see item 1).

Wined About Bike Tours Ltd has the right to resell hires if you have not paid in full by the due date and that Wined About Bike Tours Ltd has the right to refuse, or continue with, any hire at any time.

No refund can be given under any circumstances once the tour period has commenced.
